DROWN to compete in Shanghai
In the Belt and Road section in the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival, Mohammad Kart’s DROWN is one of eight outstanding films competing for the awards.
DROWN is Mohammad Kart’s debut feature which garnered five awards (including the Audience Award) in Fajr National Film Festival 2020 and named the highest grossing film in the Iranian box office during the pandemic.
Best known for his award winning short film, CHILD EATER (aka PEDOVERE), Kart shows his profound knowledge of the mean streets in Tehran, its inhabitants and their behavior and sensitivities in an amusing, action packed thriller.
In DROWN, he delves into the concepts of violence, intolerance, justice and prejudice through the story of an honor killing.
