JUNKS & DOLLS goes to Kolkata 2023
Manijeh Hekmat’s new film, JUNKS & DOLLS, will be screened in the 29th edition of Kolkata International Film Festival (December 5th to 12th, 2023 / India).
Shot in one of the biggest landfills in the northern parts in Iran, showcasing Hekmat’s environmental preoccupations, JUNKS & DOLLS, narrates an eternal story: Sometimes, when expelled, Adam and Eve find themselves in the middle of a wasteland and struggle to build a small heaven on the Earth for the sake of their love to each other and to the Mother Nature – however they are destined to be expelled time and time again…
Hekmat will serve as a jury member in the main competitive section, International Competition: Innovation in Moving Images, in KFF 2023, along with Russian cineaste, Pavel Lungin, Spanish actress, Angela Molina, Indian director and screenwriter, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and American film expert, Laurence Kardish.
