19 in IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival
In the 18th IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival (March 15th to 17th, 2023 / New Delhi, India), Manijeh Hekmat’s 19 will be a part of Feature Length Category Program.
In 19, Hekmat devises a film language for the COVID time, combining a small production team sequences, archival footage and the self made mobile videos taken under the remote control of the director in the quarantine days to take a personal journey into the labyrinths of Iranian modern history (through the revolution, the war, the pandemic, etc.) in order to tell the story of a generation desperately searching for the lost loves and the lost hopes.
After its premiere in the main competition of Kolkata IFF, 19 has traveled to International Film Festival of Kerala – IFFK (March.2022 / India), Regional International Film Festival – RIFFK (April.2022 / India), UCLA Celebration of Iranian Cinema (May.2022 / USA), Batumi International Art House Film Festival (Sep.2022 / Georgia), Religion Today Film Festival (Sep.2022 / Italy), Popoli e Religioni – Terni Film Festival (Nov.2022 / Italy) and Sofia Menar Film Festival (Jan.2023 / Bulgaria).
