MATIN receives Special Mention in DokuBaku 2025
Sam Soleimani’s short documentary, MATIN, won Special Mention in the DokuShorts section at the 9th DokuBaku – Baku International Documentary Film Festival (October 13th to 19th, 2025 / Baku, Azerbaijan).
According to the Jury Statement, “Set in a remote shelter for stray dogs, Matin uses this setting as a metaphor for family and society. With strong compositions and a sincere voiceover, it sparks reflection on compassion and reform.”
The film has already participated in Kubani IFF 2025 (Quarter-finalist), HeCare FF 2025 (Official Selection), Immagina Florence FF 2025 (Best Short Documentary Award), DokuBaku 2025 (Special Mention) and Jackson Doc Fest 2025 (Official Selection).
