In the 2nd Idromeno Independent Film Festival (May 6th to 12th, 2023 / Shkodër, Albania), Setareh Eskandari’s debut feature film, THE SUN OF THAT MOON, is included in the official competition.

With love from Sistan and Baluchestan province at South East of Iran, a region regularly depicted as a nest for the villains in the propagandistic productions, Eskandari deals with the real life and the ordinary people trapped in the superstitious beliefs and limitations. In a gorgeous, intact setting, with its mesmerizing music, spicy dishes and colorful dresses, she depicts a woman obsessed to revive an old forbidden love story with no choice but being silent in life and seeking freedom in a tragic finale.

After its world premiere at IFFI – Goa 2021, THE SUN OF THAT MOON has participated in  Iranian Film Festival Zurich 2022 (Switzerland / Main Competition), Within the Family International Film Festival 2022 (Russia / Main Competition), Les Rimbaud du Cinema 2022 (France / Main Competition), Sofia MENAR Film Festival 2023 (Bulgaria / Focus on Iranian Women Filmmakers), “Flowers against Bullets” Film Festival 2023 (Austria / Nominations for Prize of Cultures, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Music Score) and Women Media Arts and Film Festival 2023 (Australia / Feature Films Competition).
