THE DOGS… wins the Best Director Award at Universal FF

 

Ramin Rasouli wins the Best Director Award for THE DOGS DIDN’T SLEEP LAST NIGHT at the 13th Universal Film Festival (November 10th to 12th, 2022 / New York, USA).

The film was also nominated for the Best Picture Award and the Best Actress Award (Atefe Amini).

THE DOGS DIDN’T SLEEP LAST NIGHT , an Afghan/Dutch/Iranian coproduction, intertwining three stories of the ever bleeding wounds on the bodies of the people, surviving the horrible wars in Afghanistan, was premiered in the main competition of International Film Festival of India – Goa 2021 and then participated in Chennai International Film Festival 2021, Fajr International Film Festival 2021 (Interfaith Prize Winner), Wales International Film Festival 2021 (Finalist – Best Foreign Language Film Category), Kazan International Muslim Film Festival 2021 (Russia – Islamic World Program), Barcelona Asian Film Festival 2021 (Discoveries Section), Sao Paulo International Film Festival 2021 (New Filmmakers Competition), Carthage International Film Festival 2021 (World Cinema Section), Popoli e Religioni – Terni Film Festival 2021 (Competition Section), Bastau International Film Festival 2021 (Special Afghan Programme), Golden Jury International Film Festival 2021 (The Best Foreign Language Film Award Category), International Guwahati Film Festival 2022, Afghan Film Cycle in Barcelona – Casa Asia Special Program 2022, Nederlands Film Festival 2022, Sama International Film Festival 2022 (Films from Afghanistan), Universal Film Festival 2022 (Best Drama Category) and Hanoi International Film Festival 2022 (Panorama).

Alireza Amini’s THE 4TH ROUND was also included in the Best Drama category in the festival.
